In addition to our flagship facility, Tomlinson operates a mobile lab and dedicated testing facilities in Brechin and the Ontario Trap Rock quarry.

Assuring Tomlinson-Grade Materials

Skilled Technicians

Tomlinson abides by a comprehensive internal Quality Management Plan overseen by dedicated Quality Control Technicians and Administrators. Our skilled laboratory and field technicians are committed to excellence, own product quality, and work tirelessly to provide the results our customers expect.

Quality Aggregates

Owning our quarries and pits allows us to monitor the quality of our materials closely. Extracts are tested to the most stringent quality standards, and equipment is continuously calibrated and maintained to meet the rigorous standards of today’s working environment. Our technicians and engineers immediately review, evaluate, and report results.

Premium Asphalt

Tomlinson’s quality aggregates range from granitic sand to designated source materials such as diabase. Our central facility is CCIL Certified for Type A and B testing. Our laboratories are equipped with gyratory compactors and ignition ovens. Our facilities can also produce asphalt mix designs using the Marshall and Superpave methods under the latest LS Test methods and AASHTO Specifications.

Certified Concrete

All Tomlinson Ready Mix plants are certified by Concrete Ontario. We check gradations and physical properties of all coarse and fine aggregates. Cement suppliers submit monthly mill test reports, ensuring set times and strength requirements are met under CSA. Using an extensive historical database of compressive strength results, we consistently produce quality concrete and develop new mixes for specialized requirements.

Superior Construction

Safety and quality control dictate every step of our construction projects. Our quality control staff undergo rigorous training to become experts in concrete, asphalt, aggregates, structures, and grading. Tomlinson continuously provides extensive in-house and professional institute training for our employees.

ISO Compliance

Tomlinson holds ISO 9001:2015 certification for its concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and heavy civil divisions. This designation positions us for continued construction contract work within Quebec and ensures we meet the requirements under the new Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) regulations for area maintenance contracts.

On the Road to Carbon Neutral

Tomlinson is proud to lead the industry in sustainability innovation. From research and development initiatives on waste-to-renewable fuel sources to strategies that extend full product lifecycles, we are committed to reducing our impact, driving value through reuse, recycling, and responsible resource management. That includes our growing compressed natural gas fleet, with over 35 vehicles (and more on the way) proudly powered by natural gas.
