• Completed ahead of schedule and under budget
• Physically separated & raised bike lanes improve safety
• Finalist in the Transportation Association of Canada’s 2015 Sustainable Urban Transportation Award
• Coordination or utility reconstruction and relocation
• Right-of-way upgrades, such as raised cycling lanes (called cycle tracks)
• Improved street lighting, traffic control signals at three intersections, traffic calming measures
• Concrete curbs and sidewalks
• Streetscaping and utilities relocation

Requirements

• integrated rehabilitation of Churchill Avenue into Ottawa’s first 1.2km complete street
• meet the needs of all users: pedestrians, cyclists, drivers and public transit
• replacement of existing storm and sanitary sewers, watermains, private service connections
• reconstruction of roadway structure including granular and asphalt placement
